Undergraduate Writing Sample 1: Personal Statement
This personal statement accompanied each law school application I submitted. I worked diligently to create a personal statement that highlighted my leadership and communication skills and emphasized my desire to serve others while genuinely portraying my academic and personal development.
Undergraduate Writing Sample 2: Researched Argumentative Essay
Comprehensive Sex Education Protects Teens
The ability to compile in depth research in order to successfully argue for a specific position is a skill imperative to those in the legal profession. This essay displays my ability to research a particular issue, choose a specific position regarding the issue, and logically argue for that position. Since I hope to one day advocate for educational safety and equality for all students, I researched methods of sex education in public schools and chose to argue for the implementation of comprehensive sex education.
Undergraduate Writing Sample 3: Researched Literary Analysis Essay
Achievement of Female Sovereignty
Critical analysis of written texts is another skill that attorneys use on a daily basis. This researched literary analysis essay displays my ability to critically analyze a text, draw conclusions, and compile research that supports those conclusions. I chose to analyze the way in which the female characters in Kate Chopin's "Story of an Hour," Mary E. Wilkins Freeman's "A New England Nun," and Zora Neale Hurston's Their Eyes Were Watching God were able to establish self-identifies in order to transcend predetermined gender roles of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Undergraduate Speaking Sample 1: Promotional Video for LSU Writing Support @ Studio 151
Writing Support @ Studio 151
I worked with two other writing tutors to create a promotional video that highlighted the services offered by Writing Support @ Studio 151. I helped in planning the direction of the video, writing the script, performing in the video, and editing the film using iMovie. Producing this video required collaboration with peers, something that attorneys working in large law firms must often do. I also became educated on music copyright laws.
